The Washington State DOT Bridge Design Technology Unit will be hosting a 1-day (1/2 day session) training webinar on the Lateral Stability of Precast, Prestressed Concrete Bridge Girders.

The training is free to all but limited to the first 1000 enrollees.

About this webinar
WSDOT’s bridge design policy requires precast, prestressed girders be designed so safe handling at all stages of construction by common means and methods. Evaluating girder stability is a critical step in the design process. The details of stability calculations are often misunderstood. This webinar will provide an overview of stability design requirements, discuss stability theory and the relevant equations, and present example calculations. The webinar will cover:

  • Stability of Hanging Girders at Lifting
  • Stability of Seated Girders during Transport
  • Special Stability Cases
  • Software Tools for Stability Analysis

The training will be presented by Richard Brice, PE, Chairman of the PCI Girder Stability Subcommittee, and nationally recognized expert on this topic.
