Lateral Load

Hi, I have a model that I have added dead and live loads to. The client also has a lateral flood load requirement applied directly to the girder. Is there a way to apply these loads in PG super?

Either a load per area or a line load would be acceptable.

Thanks

PGSuper doesn't have a direct capability to apply lateral loads to the finished superstructure.

This is an interesting requirement. It seems to me that the deck would be the primary load carrying mechanism in this case. Do you have any example calculations that illustrate how this analysis is to be performed? Maybe in the owner's BDM?

If I better understood what you are after, I may be able to suggest a way to fake out the program to get what you want.

We were provided with a water

We were provided with a water (flood) load in psf that is to be applied to the entire superstructure depth and length.

I am not able to attach an image here.

Is the analysis concerned

Is the analysis concerned with axial forces in the beams when the entire deck/beam system acts as a unit to resist the lateral loads (sort of like the pile group analogy). Or is bending of the web because the top flange is restrained in a deck and the bottom flange is essentially a cantilever the concern? Or maybe some other localized effects on the beam?

I'm not sure how this fits into a 2D girder line analysis.
