Variable Depth Girders

Can PGSplice handle a variable depth girder where the web is extended and not simply based on a deeper D4 dimension? I know thats a harder girder to be formed & casted but it can be done if the project calls for it. Especially if girder weight for shipping is an issue.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, for Spliced I-Beam sections. They key is to check the "Section depth can vary" option in the Girder library entry.

When checked, this option permits both D4 and D7 to vary. The values for D4 and D7 become nominal, default values.

In the Segment details editing window, use the Variation Type selector to choose a variation type (linear, parabolic, etc) and enter the variation parameters (length of variation and girder depth). To vary the bottom flange depth, check the "Bottom Flange Depth" option and enter the depth value. The depth will vary with the same shape (linear, parabolic) as the main girder.
