SECTION DEPTH (X, Y, Z) ISSUE

I wanted to bring to your attention a specific case where PGSuper outputs a wrong value for the “Y” component of the section depths. The section depth components for a specific girder can be viewed in PGSuper’s TxDOT Girder Schedule Report. In the attached figure 1, the TxDOT Haunch Summary from the report is shown. The table reports the section depths (X, Y, Z).

The Section Depth (Y) should be equal to the slab offset + girder depth. The slab offset shown in the figure above is 11 inches, and the girder depth is 62 inches, so the Y component should be 73 inches. However, as you can see, PGSuper has outputted a value of 73.125”, which is wrong. If I change the slab offset to 10.75 inches, the calculations seem to be correct as shown in figure 2 (10.75 + 62 = 72.75)

It seems like PGSuper has a glitch in the calculations of the section depths for certain slab offsets such as 11, 11.75, etc.

Please let me know if you have faced such an issue before or if you think this is because of some other reason.

Thanks,

Jamshaid
