WBFL™ Live Load Analysis

Hi there,

I am not sure if this is the right place to ask questions about the WBFL™ tools. I am using the WBFL™ for moving load analysis. However, the example provided by WSDOT is only for superstructure that has constant stiffness along the span. I am wondering if any one has Excel Macros examples that run moving load on varying beam stiffness along the span. Your help is much appreciated.

All you need to do is model the superstructure members with multiple segments. Each segment can have its own stiffness. There is not a feature to model tapered elements so the best you can do is model varying stiffness with a piecewise approximation.

Thanks for your response. I made the following changes to the example LiveLoader. Could you have a look and let me know if you agree with the following?

I added multiple ssm(1 to 3). I didn't change stage 1 or segstg1 since stages are not my concern. In addition, span information doesn't change.

Set ssm1 = New SuperstructureMember
ssm1.Length = 80
' Create cross section segment and add to ssm
Dim segstg1 As segment
CreateSegment 1, 1, segstg1
ssm1.AddSegment "Stage 1", segstg1

m_Mdl.SuperstructureMembers.Add ssm1

Dim ssm2 As SuperstructureMember
Set ssm2 = New SuperstructureMember
ssm2.Length = 40
' Create cross section segment and add to ssm
Dim segstg2 As segment
CreateSegment 999, 999, segstg1
ssm2.AddSegment "Stage 1", segstg1

m_Mdl.SuperstructureMembers.Add ssm2

Dim ssm3 As SuperstructureMember
