My model unexpectedly closes when running.
Thanks

The problem is that live load isn't assigned to the model. I'll have to fix the crash problem associated with this case. In the meantime, apply live load to the model.

Select Loads > Design Live Loads. Then select the event when the bridge is open to traffic. For your timeline, it looks like you intend the bridge to be open to traffic in Event 15.

This change will bring you to another problem. The temporary erection towers at Pier 2 are so close to the pier that the internal finite element model is having difficulty finding a solution. I'll have to look further into the internal finite element model to see if this situation can be improved. Either eliminate the temporary towers and assume the girder segments are supported on the pier, or move them away from the pier. I moved them 2' and the analysis proceeded fine.

After this issue is resolved, you'll run into an issue with Segment 2. There needs to be a haul truck assigned to the segment and there is not.

Hope this helps.

I've been looking into the problem with the erection towers. Internally, PGSplice creates temporary supports at permanent piers for non-continuous segments. The geometry of your model just happens to be that the internal temporary supports and your temporary supports are at the exact same location. This results in an internal FEM element being zero length and, of course, problems happen from there.

I think the best workaround for your model is to remove your temporary erection towers. They internal temporary supports will serve the same purpose for this case.

I'm getting a new release put together. It will probably be distributed next week. I'll have the modeling issue resolved.

Rick,
Thank you for all the tips and help. After making the changes you mentioned I am able to obtain results. However, some of the reports still crash. For example, I can get the specs report but when I run the details report that one is crashing.

Thanks,

Christopher
