Assumptions and Limitations
- UDOT Structures Design and Detailing Manual, October 2022
- Project criteria is set to the latest AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications, at time of publication 9th Edition
- UDOT 14.6.1.1: “Use gross section properties in conjunction with the Service III load combination. Use transformed section properties with the Service I load combination.” Gross section properties are used for all limit states in PGSuper.
- UDOT 14.6.3.4 states: “When analyzing stresses and/or determining the required length of debonding, limit stresses to the values in LRFD Article 5.9.2, except limit tension to 0.0948 sqrt(f’c) for all exposure conditions.” PGSuper does not differentiate debonding from other end stress evaluations, and uses AASHTO stress limits in these locations.
- UDOT 14.6.3.2 says to use resistance factor of 0.9 for negative moment in CIP continuity diaphragms. PGSuper follows LRFD guidelines for reinforced concrete in this area.
- Fatigue tensile stress is not checked from UDOT 14.2.4. Users must check manually.
- Railing, sidewalk, and pedestrian load are distributed evenly to nearest 3 girders
- Per UDOT 12.2.2.1.2: Skew correction factors for moment in LRFD Table 4.6.2.2.2e-1 are not used to reduce the calculated live load moments in skewed bridges.
- Elastic gain due to deck shrinkage set at 100%. This differs from WSDOT and TxDOT who have found this to be excessive.
- Losses computed using the LRFD Refined Estimate (5.9.3.4)
- Rating criteria has not yet been input. Users needing to perform rating analysis must input parameters manually in order to perform rating analyses. Feedback on recommended rating parameters is appreciated.
- Checking and automated design for lifting and hauling is disabled.
- Strand slope check is disabled
